Front
and Finish Belgian Sheepdog Top 10 Agility Rankings for 2007
Well, first of all to say I am shocked and surprised is an
understatement. I recently found out that Kira, Donatrix Quarelle
OA, OAJ, CGC, TDI, HIT is ranked 2nd in Standard Open
Class Jumpers and tied for 2nd and Jumpers Open Class agility in the
USA. The year used to accumulate these points is 1/1/07 through
12/31/07.
I
am very proud of Kira for this major accomplishment. I couldn’t ask
for a better partner and teammate in this game of agility.
Because I want to limit the amount of space used I am posting a
partial list.

Kira ……
It was my goal to
achieve Kira's Open Standard agility title by the end of the 2007
Agility season.
I am more than proud to announce that today in Pt. Jervis NY, under
Judge Janet Budzynski she received her 3rd qualifying score of 100
with a First Place in Open Standard agility. She and I were
competing against some great teams today.
The course yardage was 158 yards, with a set time of 68 seconds.
Kira's time was 41.58 seconds.
This year has been awesome, achieving our Novice titles that were
put on hold for 3 years, and now our Open titles.

Belle ……
“Excerpt of email sent to me by Belle’s owner”
One night a drunk person tried to break in to my house. I took Belle
out the side door and trapped the kid against the house until the
cops came. She barked and growled at him and I told the kid to sit
and I told him if he moves or comes near me she will bite him. The
kid was so drunk he thought he was partying at my house earlier.
Belle was not in danger but you know how the Belgians can look and
sound. The cops told the kid he was lucky that my brother and I did
not beat the kid up and then said better yet the dog did not get
him.
She actually brings a lot of comfort to our house knowing she is
there.

“Email from Duncan’s owners”
Dunkin has completed two obedience classes so far with excellent
results-he is an exceptionally bright boy! Early next year he is
going for his CGC (Canine Good Citizen Certification) and I expect
he'll do well there too!
Pictures just don't do this little man justice! He is 55 lbs now and
a delight to have in the house!!!

New
Canine Good Citizens ……
On
September 24, 2006 Donatrix Quarelle (Kira) and Beartooths BlackJack
(Jack) received their AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluation passing all
10 criteria with ease. The test was held in conjunction with the
AKC’s Responsible Dog Ownership Day at Pequannock Feed in West
Milford, NJ and was given by Jennifer Basile, a certified AKC Canine
Good Citizen evaluator.
Kira and I gave 2 Agility Demonstrations and spoke about the value
of the sport and the phenomenal feeling it gives to work as a team
with a dog.
Jack and Jay gave an Obedience Demonstration where Jay explained
that any dog can perform obedience with a calm, consistent handler.
Jack and Kira worked the crowd with Jay and I like only a Belgian
can, accepting pets, treats and hugs from children and adults alike.
They were wonderful Belgian Breed ambassadors.
Jack is now Beartooths BlackJack CGC and Kira is now Donatrix
Quarelle, HIT, CGC. Pictures to follow. |

Brags ...
In June 2001, Kira received
her HIC (Herding Instinct Certification) from Mary Alice Theriot. Although we still train and have fun herding, we do not trial. Quite simply, Kira loves it and I, as her handler can’t seem to get the hang of it. But she does enjoy going out and herding with her Border Collie friends and her son Riggs!
On May 31, 2003, Kira and I competed in our first ever agility trial. It was teeming rain and we ran Novice Jumpers in Freehold, NJ. She was flawless(I was not, but she saved me from an NQ) and we took first place in the class, with a run time of 33.9 seconds to run a 172 yard course. Her score was 195 for the run. Our first “Q” or qualifying run. I cried tears of joy and she was so pleased with me for finally doing it right! |

Sourires Black Label Mabel |
|
 |
This
young lady was born out of our “B” Litter.
She is a UKC registered Belgian Shepherd Dog. While living with us, she was our little Red Girl aka as
Sweet Cheri.
Cheri
who is now known as Mabel, was sold to my friend Jennifer Basile who is an
Obedience Trainer and recently received her Canine Good Citizen Evaluator
Certificate. She is very involved
in Basset Hound Rescue, Viszla Rescue and more recently, Belgian Tervuren
Rescue.
Mabel
is a fun fun fun girl! She is happy and bouncy and full of life and loves to run
by and give what I call “fly-by” kisses.
Mabel & Jennifer along with Jazzi & I have dabbled a bit in
beginner agility training recently. It
is so much fun to watch Mabel and the only way to describe the way she makes you
feel is “smiley & happy”. She
was my favorite pup of the litter, so I’m sure I spoiled her just a tad more
than the others!
Mabel
recently showed in UKC conformation on August 13, 2005 and took a first place in
the Puppy Class! I was very proud
of both Jen and Mabel for showing off both of their shining and beautiful
personalities! Way to go girls. |
